Darren Sidoel has played for the U-17 and U-19 teams of Ajax Amsterdam. He joins the club from Córdoba FC and has spent last season on loan at Hércules, under the current manager of East Bengal Manolo Diaz. He plays usually as a No. 6, which means that he plays the role of a defensive midfielder. Sidel can also play as a centre back and in other positions in the central midfield. He has a willingness to push the ball higher up the pitch which helps in contributing to the attack. The young Netherlands player usually is stationed in front of the defence and will aim to behold the midfield for the Red-and-Gold Brigade.
East Bengal has been pretty active during the transfer window since they have been allowed to play in the ISL again due to the intervention of the CM of West Bengal. They have brought a large number of players for the new season. He has become the club’s fifth foreign signing as Nigerian striker Daniel Chima’s transfer from Taizhou Yuanda was announced yesterday.
The Kolkata based side will face Jamshedpur FC in their opening match of the Indian Super League 2021-22 season on the 21st of November at the Tilak Maidan Stadium.
