Romelu Lukaku undergoes a medical in Italy, ahead of his move to Chelsea FC

Romelu Lukaku is undergoing a medical in Milan, ahead of his €115 million move to Chelsea FC from Inter Milan.

Romelu Lukaku is now undergoing his medical in Milan, ahead of his move to Chelsea FC. The signing was made with no issue, according to various sources, as only the paperwork for this transfer was made.

The Athletic reported on Saturday that agreements are in place for the €115 million transfer and Lukaku was set to have the checks in Belgium on Sunday before travelling to London.  Chelsea is hoping the 28-year-old striker is available for the Super Cup against Villareal, on Wednesday.

Lukaku had scored 30 goals in 44 games, in all competitions and won the Serie A for Inter, a first for the club since 2010. Before last week, Lukaku was considered untouchable for Inter as they refused to sell him to anybody. Chelsea have been persistent suitors for him but were rejected before. Inter already lost their coach, Antonio Conte and their right wing-back, Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint Germain.

Inter are facing a tough situation as they face liquidation and have to sell players to remain healthy as a club. Chelsea had earlier lost the opportunity to sign Lukaku, back in 2017, as he signed for Manchester United. Lukaku was a Chelsea player from 2011 to 2014, but couldn’t play for more than 10 games and succeeded later in West Bromwich Albion and Everton.

Chelsea are soon going to confirm the striker they were looking for, as finishing was probably the most glaring weakness for this, otherwise great Chelsea team. Now, this team may look to challenge for the Premier League title and retain their Champions League title.
