Aston Villa again had to face a defeat against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea FC on Sunday. This time, new manager Steven Gerrard was in charge of Villa. Overall performances of the Liverpool Legend’s men (Aston Villa FC) were good and they were looking dangerous in so many situations. However, Thomas Tuchel’s men did what they do best as they scored two goals in the second half to move the momentum of the match towards them which also helped them take three crucial points from the game.
The visitors (Chelsea) didn’t have many attempts at the opposition’s goal in the first half but somehow managed to level the score by 1-1 before the break. The first goal of the match was an own goal by Chelsea’s defender Reece James in the 28th minute after Ollie Watkins’ cross was deflected and beat Mendy on goal. The host took the lead at Villa Park but visitors were never behind in this game as they found the equalizing goal from the penalty spot in the 34th minute. Jorginho makes it 1-1 from the spot after Hudson-Odoi was fouled in the box by Aston Villa’s right-back Matty Cash.

Chelsea brought their newly signed striker Romelu Lukaku off the bench substituting defender Trevoh Chalobah. The Belgian forward was back from his injury and he didn’t take too much time to be back on the scoresheet as well. In the 56th minute, Lukaku heads the ball into the net from Hudson-Odoi’s sweet cross in the box. Chelsea FC was leading by 2-1 since then. Thomas Tuchel’s men came back stronger in the second half as they were dominating the possession and also making attempts at regular intervals. The fourth official indicated 5 minutes of regulation time which was enough for the Blues to take the 2 goals lead. Jorginho converted again from the penalty spot in the 90+3rd minute after Aston Villa’s defender Ezri Konsa made a silly foul on Romelu Lukaku.
