Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema uncertain for PSG game

Real Madrid faces PSG next week on February 16 and the forward won’t be risked until he feels 100% fit.

Karim Benzema, a key player for the Real Madrid squad is not 100% fit yet to play against Paris Saint-German for the first leg of the Champions League last 16 ties while the game is just a week away.

French international, Benzema is forced to stay out of the squad since he picked up an injury during his side’s clash against Elche that ended 2-2 on 23rd January. He was taken off the pitch and substituted with Luka Jovic. The forward looked clutching the top of his left hamstring while he left through the tunnel.

Number 9 striker apparently doing some ball work and is trained on pitches as Los Blancos think he might be back this week while the fixture with Ligue 1 team is just days away but it is not sure if the player will be 100% fit until then. The club won’t risk their most important player while he still recovers his hamstring problems. Benzema is currently leading the top scorer’s table in La Liga with 17 goals along with teammate Vinicius Jr, who is also on the list at number three with 12.

According to MARCA, the Frenchman had a “small tear in his hamstring” and is being monitored by the medical staff since the Elche game. It seems impossible for the player to appear for the Whites in one of their most important matches against Villarreal that is scheduled for February 12 this week on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy, who was also injured before the club’s 1-0 loss at the Copa del Rey quarterfinals game against Athletic Bilbao, is recovering well but won’t be risked against Villarreal and might appear against PSG.

Real Madrid is currently at the top of the La Liga table with 53 points in 23 games followed by Sevilla at two. Rivals Barcelona grabbed the fourth position in the table.
