Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to face verdict in his blackmail trial

French forward Karim Benzema will face a verdict on his blackmail trial on his teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

In 2015, Karim Benzema who is charged with complicity within the alleged attempt in blackmailing his France teammate Mathieu Valbuena for a sex tape that was stolen from his phone. Prosecutor asked that Benzema should pay 75,000 euros, which maximum allowed on the charge, and should face a minimum of 10 months in jail term. Benzema and four other defendants are facing the charges and the verdict is expected to respond on Saturday.

Maitre Antoine Vey who is Karim Benzema’s lawyer said according to Marca that Judicial information was leaked and both parties learned the participation from the press than himself. He also added that Benzema claims to be completely innocent and he does not get involves in direct conversations with other defendants, even the prosecutor claims that he was also behind the scenes to commute a deal by blackmailing with the other defendants too.

Benzema who has been in wonderful form recently scoring a spectacular goal in the UEFA nations league is one of the top scorers in Real Madrid and assists too, he was also recently in the Ballon d’Or top 30 selection. With all the major success in his football career, a case on his resume might not look good and might even cost his one of the best season if found guilty.
