Real Madrid recovered from a goal down to thrashing opponents by four

Real Madrid recovered from a goal down to thrash Real Sociedad 4-1 and stretch their position at the atop of La Liga to 8 points.

After thumping Real Sociedad 4-1, Real Madrid surged eight points clear in La Liga Santander. Mikel Oyarzabal netted an initial penalty, however, strikes from Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, and Marco Asensio guaranteed Carlo Ancelotti’s team took all three points. Carlo Ancelotti’s men seemed to have taken the opportunities to obtain further steps towards the Spanish crown after Sevilla drew with Alaves on Friday.

Quite an approach to wrap up the first half. Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty for Real Sociedad earlier in the first half, and it needed Real Madrid until the final 5 minutes of the half to respond. First, Eduardo Camavinga levelled with a terrific opener, then Karim Benzema’s goal was called out for offside before Luka Modric produced a screamer to put Los Blanco’s front at the interval.

Vinicius was brought down by Elustondo right on the edge of the area, but after a free-kick was initially given, a VAR review confirmed that the foul struck inside the area. From the penalty mark, Benzema sends Remiro the opposite way to finish his 20th league goal this season.

Ancelotti’s squad now enjoys an eight-point margin over 2nd Sevilla, as well as an 18-point margin above Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Los Blancos still got PSG at the Santiago Bernabéu to look ahead to on Wednesday. They remain 1-0 trailing from the first leg versus PSG, which Kylian Mbappé awarded the Ligue 1 club with a late winner in Paris.
