The game started with the Blues scoring the first goal where Mason Mount scored in the 15th minute of the game and the first half ended with 1-0 (3-2) on aggregate in the Santiago Bernabeu. In the second half, Chelsea took the lead again to level the aggregate score 3-3 where Rudiger netted in the 50th minute from his towering header from a corner after which Karim Benzema’s header came off the bar at 66′ before Timo Werner made it 3-4 in favour for the defending champions.
The hosts were trailing 3-4 down after which Rodrygo to a beautiful Luka Modric assist struck at the 80th minute to level the game against the visitors on aggregate before the return leg went into extra time.
The first part of extra time was owned by Karim Benzema to make it 4-5 for the 13-times European Champions at the 96th minute while the second part went goalless to end it for Carlo Ancelotti’s team. France International Benzema had scored a brilliant hat trick at the Stanford Bridge to clinch an away win against the reigning UCL champions.
