Real Madrid defeats Shakhtar Donetsk, leads their UCL group

Real Madrid defeats Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1, thanks to Benzema’s brace and Real Madrid scores their 1000th goal and becomes the first club to do so.


After a stunning home loss to Sheriff Tiraspol, group D was wide open at the halfway mark, with Real Madrid leading Inter Milan by two points with six points. It may still go anyway, making today’s match against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine all the more crucial. Madrid thrashed Shakhtar 5-0 on the road last time out.
