Ralf Rangnick says it’s ‘no coincidence’ he has worked with six Liverpool stars

Ralf Rangnick says it’s no coincidence that so many of Liverpool’s Quadruple-chasing team were signed by him earlier in their careers.

Ralf Rangnick, an old friend of Jurgen Klopp, worked with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino during his time as a coach and sporting director at Schalke, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.

Rangnick isn’t taking credit for his former players’ success at Liverpool, but he believes the manner they learned to play in Germany and Austria is now paying off for Klopp’s Liverpool.

In a pre-match interview with Sky Sports, Rangnick stated, ‘Having six players from prior clubs is not an accident.’ He also explained that he didn’t say how much effect he had on those players, but it’s quite evident that a huge club like Liverpool, one of Europe’s top clubs, has six former players who no one knew when he signed them at RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg. He also stated that he and Jurgen Klopp know each other from their time in Germany, he praised Klopp for the work he has done with Borussia Dortmund and FC Mainz before coming to Liverpool and also thinks that his German counterpart is one of the best coaches if not the best.

On Tuesday night, United will meet Liverpool at Anfield, with the Reds hoping to keep up their title campaign after winning the Carabao Cup, reaching the FA Cup final, Champions League semi-finals and are one point behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League. Whereas, United on the other hand is trying to finish their season on a high by at least qualifying for the Champions League for the next season.
