Something similar happened on Tuesday, when Rafael Nadal, the famous Spanish tennis player shared a tweet in support of Striker Karim Benzema who represented Real Madrid and France in the year 2020/21. Nadal wrote in the tweet that he admires Benzema as a player for his commitment and professionalism at the age of 33. He further wished him good luck and extended his support for the Frenchmen to win the Golden Ball.
Karim Benzema is a part of the 30 men shortlist (Ballon d’Or) that was earlier released by FIFA. The striker scored 35 goals in his 2020/21 season along with 14 assists. He also helped his national side see through the UEFA Nations League final against Spain. This makes him somewhat a favorite for the award but not completely, as the list also contains the likes of players like N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, who together won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup. The Italian also won the Euro 2020 with his side and played a decisive role in the victories for his club and country alike. Two other names who can make a huge difference are Messi and Lewandowski. The Polish international has scored 54 goals and won 3 major titles for his club. While the Argentine won Copa Del Rey for his club, and his first international trophy with his nation in the form of Copa America.
After the 2020 edition of the award got canceled, It will be very interesting to see who wins it in 2021.
