After Sergio Ramos was left off of Spain’s roster for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, PSG right defender Achraf Hakimi complimented his club friend.

La Roja unveiled its 26-man list for the 2022 Qatar edition of the biennial competition. Aymeric Laporte, Eric Garcia, and Pau Torres were chosen by head coach Luis Enrique ahead of Ramos, making him one of the big absentees. Soon after Spain’s 2022 World Cup roster was revealed, Hakimi praised Ramos on Twitter, writing: “Sergio Ramos Best defend in the world.”

Due to the center-performance back’s for PSG this season, many believed he would join Enrique’s side. Ramos has consistently been in the starting lineup for the Parisians despite dealing with injuries for a large portion of his first season there last year. The defender has made 19 appearances in all competitions, which is six more than he did in the entire previous campaign. Ramos has contributed to seven clean sheets for PSG while also scoring once and providing one assist in those contests.
