
Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded champion shuttler PV Sindhu on her triumph at the Swiss Open on Sunday, saying her accomplishments empower India’s future.
Sindhu grabbed her second women’s singles title of the season on Sunday at the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament in Basel, overcoming Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan in straight-game victory.
Sindhu, a double Olympic medalist, clinched her second sequential tournament final in 49 minutes at the St. Jakobshalle, upsetting fourth-seeded Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-16 21-8.
