The upcoming season of the Premier League will be starting on August 5 Friday. It will be the first time a season is starting this early since the 1999-2000 campaign, which started on the 7th of August. Arsenal will be facing Crystal Palace at their home. It is expected to be a fun-filled London Derby.

There is only one game scheduled for the opening day which is Friday. On the next day, teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham will be in action. The final day of the first game week will feature the defending champions Manchester City facing West Ham with the latter hosting the game.

It was already announced after a meeting that the traditional ‘Big Six’ of the Premier League will not be playing each other during the last match week before the Qatar World Cup. Hence the games on the 12th and 13th of November will not be featuring the matches which involve the Big Six facing each other. This was done according to the request made by the Football Association.

There is also a six-week break decided this season due to the 2023 World Cup which will be held in Qatar. This is why the league is starting earlier than how it should have been. It was decided by FIFA that all the players participating in this World Cup should be free by 14 November for the preparations leading to the World Cup. Premier League will be resuming six weeks later on the famous Boxing Day. The 2022-23 Premier League campaign will conclude on 28th May.
