Premier League: Jurgen Klopp praises both teams despite a goalless draw

The game ended in Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool draw.

Jurgen Klopp praised Liverpool’s reaction to grind out a point in a goalless draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Klopp told Sky Sports: “So I saw a couple of 0-0s against Chelsea over the last few years. The two finals were two of the best games I’ve seen. Tonight was different.

“Two teams on a low confidence level, but they put in a good fight. Super attitude and super mentality, and that is what I saw. They had a chance. We had a chance. We had to fight until the end; they had to fight until the end. It was a super intense game but not a spectacular game. I saw significant challenges and people flying into tackles, and that’s what we need. Midfield, they didn’t play as often as they should have. That’s what we have to build on it.”

Chelsea was again disappointed by their wayward finishing in their first game since Graham Potter’s sacking. Liverpool held a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. The new interim boss was the same as the old one for Chelsea, who showed the same failings in front of the goal that hamstrung Potter’s tenure.

Liverpool again nearly shot themselves in the foot soon after, with Mateo Kovacic rounding Alisson and seeing his goal-bound strike blocked on the line by Ibrahima Konate. The visitors’ first real opportunity came from 35 yards, with Jordan Henderson attempting to make the most of a failed clearance by Kepa Arrizabalaga. But Kalidou Koulibaly retreats and clears the ball.
