The Brazilian former professional football player, the great footballer Pele, has been hospitalized to continue treating a Colon tumour. The 81-year-old legendary footballer was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo. On Wednesday, the medical team of the Football icon said in a statement that, Pele underwent surgery in September, to remove a colon tumour and spent nearly a month in hospital at that time. And he is stable now and is expected to be discharged within a few coming days.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento is the actual name of Pele, who has not been doing too good with his health in recent years. It is reported that on 4th September, he went through surgery for a colon tumour and was released most after spending a month. And before the surgery, he was continuing his chemotherapy from home. He has spent several stints in the hospital, due to his health issues.
The statement to Pele’s Assistant Pepito Fornos to Associated Press, “during the routine examination at the end of August, Pele found a tumour and was having chemotherapy for its treatment. After the surgery on his right colon, he was in intensive care and recovering outside Sao Paulo at his home”.
Pele is the only player in history, who won the title of the World cup three times, which was in 1958, 1962, and 1970. He was also the former sports minister of Brazil.
