Fabio Paratici will have to step down as Tottenham’s managing director of football as Fifa extended a worldwide ban imposed on him in Italy after his former club Juventus was found guilty of false accounting.
Juventus docked 15 league points in January for a long-running investigation. Paratici, who joined Spurs in 2021, was among former Juventus executives receiving lengthy bans. This was after a hearing at the federal court of appeal. Juventus and Paratici have appealed against the decision. Juventus has denied wrongdoing.
“Fifa can confirm that following a request by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), the chairperson of the Fifa disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have a worldwide effect,” Fifa said in its official statement earlier in the day.
Following Fabio Paratici’s worldwide ban extension from football Fifa, Spurs stated they are “urgently seeking further clarification from FIFA as to the details of the extension and its variance from the FIGC sanction.” Spurs have been seeking legal advice in this matter
