Official: Lionel Messi will not continue with FC Barcelona

Football Club Barcelona (FCB) has confirmed that Lionel Messi will not renew his contract with the club. After 18 years and 683 goals, he is leaving his boyhood club.

FC Barcelona has officially confirmed that Lionel Messi won’t continue further at the club. The man with the number 10 on his back will not be seen in Barcelona anymore, which left his fans with so many emotions.

“Despite having reached an agreement between Barca and Leo Messi and with the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, it will not be possible to formalize due to economic and structural obstacles (Spanish LaLiga regulations),” FC Barcelona stated via their official site.

Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist reported this morning that Lionel Messi is going to sign the new contract and the club will announce it soon. But unfortunately, it didn’t happen.

Messi had his contract expired this July. He was a free agent since then. But the club as well as the fans believed that he is going to stay at the club. This news has given a huge shock to the fans of Messi as well as FC Barcelona.

Fabrizio Romano wrote in his Instagram post, “faced with this situation, lionel Messi will not continue to be linked to Barcelona. The two parties deeply regret that the wishes of both the player and the Club cannot finally be fulfilled.”

The club football is just days away and Messi still doesn’t have any club and he is still a free agent. It is believed that many clubs will be in the race to sign him.
