Odisha FC and FC Goa had to battle for a draw in the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season on Friday. It was not a high-scoring and intense game but both the teams earned the crucial point in the league which will later help them to climb up the table. Odisha FC with this draw remains in 7th place, whereas FC Goa is in 8th place in the points table. Despite both the teams being in the bottom half of the table, they aren’t far enough from the league leaders Mumbai City FC who is on 15 points. Meanwhile, Kiko Ramirez’s team is on 10 points and Derrick Pereira’s FC Goa is on 8.
Despite some boring first-half performances from both teams, FC Goa was successful in scoring a goal before half-time. It was centre-back Ivan Garrido Gonzalez who scored a beautiful goal to give visitors the lead. Due to this goal, FC Goa had some advantages before the second half.
But, just 8 minutes after the second half started, Odisha FC’s striker Jonathas de Jesus scored the equalizing goal and it was all square in Tilak Maidan. The 53rd-minute goal from Jonathas was the last goal of the match. Even though the teams created some chances but none of them were counted. The teams were equal not only in the terms of goal but also in the terms of chances created in the whole match and shots attempted on target.
