Odisha FC defeat NorthEast United, climb up to fifth place in the points table

Odisha FC is now in the fifth position of the Hero Indian Super League points table after defeating struggling NorthEast United FC by 2 goals.

The two-goal match between NorthEast United and Odisha FC in the Hero Indian Super League ended with a scoreline of 0-2 to Odisha. The visitors really deserved this victory as they were brilliant against Khalid Jamil’s men on Tuesday at Hero ISL 2021/22 season. Khalid Jamil’s side is still not able to find the momentum they want to go up in the points table. NorthEast United have won only 2 games in 12 they played this season, having accumulated only 9 points. They suffered their 7th loss of this season’s Hero Indian Super League.

Odisha FC was just too good on the ball and deserved three points from this game. Both the goals which were scored in the game, came in the first-half. The goals were scored by Odisha in a span of just five minutes. The first game of the goal was scored by Odisha FC’s striker Daniel Lalhlimpuia in the 17th minute. Aridai Cabrera who plays for the visitors gave an assist to Lalhlimpuia who helped Odisha FC take the crucial lead against Khalid Jamil’s men.

The second goal of Odisha FC which was also the last goal scored in the match was scored by midfielder Aridai Cabrera who’s assist leads to the first goal and his goal led to the victory for the visitors in the game. Despite keeping less percentage of possession on the ball, Odisha FC had 16 shots on goal out of which 7 was on target. Comparatively, Odisha created more chances than the host and thus deserved the three points as well. After this loss, NorthEast’s journey to playoffs looks very difficult as the team is currently standing in the second last position in the points table.
