
Rising young Indian attacking midfielder Ninthoi Meetei has been signed by Chennaiyin FC (CFC) on an exclusive three year deal which will see him ply his trade for the ISL team, starting from the upcoming season.

Meetei was a member of the Indian team that competed in the 2017 U-17 World Cup hosted by India. The Imphal based footballer has won the 2019 Best Player Award and helped India win its first ever SAFF U-18 Championship title. The 20 year old said that he was really happy joining this team and this club has the spirit and energy through all the seven years they have been in existence. He added by saying that he is looking forward to giving the team his best and is very much excited to kick off with Chennaiyin FC.
He started his professional career with the I- League club Indian Arrows in 2017 making 27 appearances on the pitch playing as a right-winger and spent two years with them. He made his ISL debut with his local team, Northeast United and made 24 appearances for the Highlanders in his two years stay with the club and has now signed for Chennaiyin FC.
CFC co-owner Vita Dani said that they are very happy bringing someone like Ninthoi as he is young and already has 24 ISL appearances in his belt and could help the team. The contract with the two-time champions could lead to a learning experience for the youngster who will be playing other veteran players.
CFC coach Bozidar Bandovic commented on the new signing saying that Meetei is a quality young player with space to improve and the club aims to build, train and improve young domestic players because they are the future. CFC will be looking forward to their third title this upcoming season starting this year.
