Nikola Milenkovic is set to stay in Fiorentina as he signs a new contract with the club

The Serbian defender, Nikola Milenkovic is not going anywhere in this transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur was one of the many clubs that wanted Nikola Milenkovic in their team this summer.

Nikola Milenkovic has signed a new contract with Fiorentina amid his linking news with Tottenham and West Ham this summer. Nikola Milenkovic plays as a central defender for the Serie A club, Fiorentina. He is just 23-year old and he is one of the best defenders in the league.

Clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and also West Ham were looking to bolster their defence by adding the Serbian Defender to their team even last year. But neither did he leave the club last summer nor this summer. Rather, he signed a new contract with Fiorentina for 2 years which means he will stay at the club until 2023.

The Serbian Centre half is known for his Aerials because of his height and tackling. He joined Fiorentina in 2017 from the Serbian SuperLiga club, FK Partizan for just €5 million. Just after few months only, he became the regular first-team defender for the Serie A side.

This season, Tottenham wanted a defender, although they had bought a new Centre back just a few days ago named Cristian Romero, the Argentine star who won the Copa America this summer. He was also named the best defender in Serie A last season while playing for Atalanta on loan from Juventus. However, Fabrizio Romano, the Italian journalist always said via tweets that Tottenham Hotspur is not planning to make a bid for the Serbian Centre half.

Nikola was just an option for Spurs they were never planning to make a bid for him (per Fabrizio). Spurs have recently lost their regular Centre back, Toby Alderweireld who left the club and join a Qatari club, Al-Duhail. Another Premier League club, West Ham was planning to sign Nikola and also they started talks with the club and his agents. However, now their search for a central defender will continue as Nikola Milenkovic signed a new contract until 2023.
