Nico Gonzalez turned down Man City only to shine at FC Barcelona

Nico González is only 20 years old and is already a midfield prospect in Xavi’s future plans.

Nico González is a versatile midfielder and can play in a variety of positions around the pitch. He can play as a defensive midfielder, a centre midfielder, or even an attacking midfielder due to his versatility.

After shining in his first campaign in the Barcelona first squad this season, the 20-year-old appears to be a massive prospect, having previously appeared very bright in their youth sides.

González has recorded 24 appearances for Barcelona’s senior team in LaLiga, cementing his position as one of the club’s top prospects as they rebuild after Lionel Messi’s departure under former midfielder Xavi.

Several offers were made to the youngster. Manchester City and Manchester United were also the two clubs that tried the hardest for him, but Barça’s offer eventually persuaded him to stay. While it wasn’t as profitable as those offered by English clubs, it’s just what the player & his family desired.

Nico González and FC Barcelona officially reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract with the club until June 30, 2024. The price of his buyout has been put at 500 million euros.

Nico González via La Vanguardia as reported by Fabrizio Romano said that Nico and his new agent Mendes are soon going to meet the officials at Barcelona to talk about his contract. Nico is passionate about Barcelona and wants to stay at the club for his whole life.
