It’s raining goals as soon as the Premier League starts. After the 5 goal display from Manchester United against Leeds United earlier on Saturday, Watford beat Aston Villa 3-2 in their opening match of the season. It was a thrilling game that went to Watford’s side.
Watford was leading 2-0 in the first half. The newly-promoted side has arrived in style as they were leading the team which finished 11th last season. Watford scored their first goal in the 10th minute. Ismaila Sarr doubled this lead in the 42nd minute. They had a good grip on the game before going into the tunnel after the first 45 minutes.
Cucho Hernandez was the player who came from the substitution in the 67th minute and scored in the 68th and extends Watford’s lead by 3-0. He replaced Emmanuel Bonaventure who broke the ice in the 10th minute for Watford. Even after trailing by 3 goals to nil, Aston Villa never gave up and kept making chances. In the 70th minute, John McGinn scored the first goal for Aston Villa. But this wasn’t enough for Villa to turn the game around. At last, in the 97th minute, Aston Villa’s new signing, Danny Ings scored the penalty. However, this goal didn’t make any change for Villa in the points table. The game ended 3-2 and it was Watford’s first win in their first game of the season.
