Memphis Depay, the former Manchester United forward, is on the verge of departing Atlético Madrid as a free agent. The club has not engaged in discussions regarding a contract extension, to choose his next destination soon.
Depay joined Atlético Madrid in January 2023 from FC Barcelona, aiming to rejuvenate his career under Diego Simeone’s management. Despite showing potential, his tenure with the club has been brief and not as per expectations. Injuries and competition for starting spots limited his impact, leading to his current situation.
Now, with the freedom to negotiate with other clubs, Depay’s future is wide open. The season is now over and Real Madrid are termed as the champions of the La Liga, it will be a chance for Atletico Madrid as well to look out for his options in the summer transfer window.
