Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford spoke about winning penalties after winning the Football Writers’ Association 2021 Tribute Award on Thursday. The 23 year old spoke about former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s involvement in him learning to win more penalties.

“Jose said, ‘if you’re not savvy about the way you do it, then you are not going to get given it’.”

“It was something in terms of development you have to learn and understand.”

Manchester United have been awarded 27 penalties since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed the club’s manager in 2018 – the most in the league.

They have won 11 penalties in all competitions this season so far, whilst winning 14 last season in the Premier League – the most in a season in the league’s history.
