Manchester United return to winning ways by defeating Tottenham Hotspur by 3-0

Following this win, Manchester United Climbs up to 5th spot on the table with 17 points against their name.

The last match on Sunday evening was a very important match for both the teams playing in it. On one hand was Manchester United coming into this game after a thumping defeat against Liverpool last week by a large margin of 5-0. It was their 3rd defeat in 9 matches, and the Red Devils were looking for redemption. While Tottenham like always has had a patchy start to their campaign with 5 wins and 4 losses in their 9 matches, unlike their adversaries, the Spurs side had won their mid league match and were looking to build on that momentum to regain a place in the top 6 of the table.

The match started on a very competitive note as both the teams went out at each other to draw the first blood. It took some time, but Manchester United who looked the more likely of the two sides indeed opened the scoring in the 39th minute of the game with the help of a sweetly connected volley by Ronaldo. On the other end of the field, Tottenham too had some close chances, but they failed to convert them. As a result, they went into halftime trailing with 1-0.

In the second half, Manchester United looked to be on the backfoot as Tottenham dictated the possession, but there was no real potency in their attack. Hence, when Manchester United won the ball on the counter they made sure that they made the Londoners pay. Released by Ronaldo’s through ball, Eddinson Cavani scored the second goal of the match in the 84th minute to double his side’s advantage.

The final icing on the cake was provided by Marcus Rashford in the 87th minute. Rashford received a great ball by Fernandes just outside the box and then wrapped his foot around in sweetly to annihilate any chances of Tottenham making a comeback.
