Manchester United is reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, in the summer of 2023. Frimpong is said to be open to leaving the German club, which has alerted United to the possibility of securing his services.
The 20-year-old defender has impressed since his move from Celtic to Leverkusen in January 2021, making 25 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has been a regular starter for Peter Bosz’s side and has caught the eye with his attacking flair and defensive abilities.
Frimpong’s pace and dribbling ability make him a threat going forward, while his defensive positioning and tackling skills make him a solid option at the back. His versatility to play as a right-back or right wing-back also makes him an attractive prospect for potential suitors.
Manchester United is in need of a new right-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggling for consistency in his performances. Frimpong could provide competition for the Englishman or even become the first-choice option, depending on his performances.
The potential signing of Frimpong would fit with United’s recent transfer policy of targeting young, talented players with potential for development. Frimpong has shown promise in his short time at Leverkusen and could flourish under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching staff.
