Luka Modrić becomes the oldest and youngest Croatian to score in the Euros

Luka Modrić, who played a vital role in Croatia’s victory which advanced into round of 16 after they overcame Scotland 3-1, becomes the oldest and youngest player from his country to score in the Euros.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric proved once again on Tuesday in 3rd matchday of Euro 2020 vs Scotland that age is just a number for him. Modric’s sublime goal obliged him the oldest and youngest player of Croatia to score in the Euro tournament while he led his country to the second place in Group D.

Captain Modrić has now scored in each of his last three major tournaments namely, Euro 2016, World Cup 2018 and in Euro 2020. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has netted at the 2008 Euro and the 2020 Euro other than Luka Modrić. The 35 year old midfielder has been an absolute pleasure to watch for his outstanding performances for both – his club and country.

The player played 90 minutes in which he provided one of the best goal of the tournament in the 62nd minute, one assist for the winner goal scored by Ivan Perisic at the 77th minute, most passes, most touches, two shots, one clearance and one interception.
