Liverpool is interested in Aston Villa’s midfielder John McGinn

Liverpool has shown interest in Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder John McGinn.

According to reports from England, Liverpool has shown interest in Aston Villa’s John McGinn. The Scotland midfielder is also gathering interest from other Premier League clubs.

John McGinn’s performance this season for Aston Villa have drawn Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s attention. Klopp is reported to have been highly impressed by McGinn when Villa were the winners of an enthralling 7-2 match against Liverpool in the Premier League last October. Liverpool players were also left impressed with McGinn after the defeat to Aston Villa. Klopp also inquired of Robertson, McGinn’s Scotland team-mate, if he ever stops running due to his impressive work rate.

However, Aston Villa has no intentions of selling one of their best players alongside Jack Grealish who helped the club finish 11th position in the Premier League. Villa value the 26-year old midfielder highly and will only consider negotiations if an offer in the region of £45-50million from Liverpool, or any club arrives. McGinn signed a new 5-year contract with Villa back in December which means Liverpool cannot afford a room to bargain for the player.

Villa’s captain, youth product and talisman Jack Grealish have also gathered interest from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Villa is reportedly bracing for offers of more than £100 million for the attacking midfielder and Manchester City is set to break the transfer record for a British player.

McGinn has played in all three of Scotland’s Euro 2020 matches but his national side is out of the tournament after Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat by Croatia. In 37 appearances in the 2020/21 Premier League season, McGinn scored 3 goals and recorded 6 assists for Aston Villa.
