In second place was Dutch star Vivianne Miedema, and in third place was England’s Leah Williamson.

Arsenal congratulated her through a statement on their website: “The Republic of Ireland captain set up more goals than any other player with 13, and also netted stunning goals against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

McCabe topped our official poll, presented by MasterCard, with 48 percent of the votes cast. Vivianne Miedema finished second, with Leah Williamson in third.

Congratulations, Katie!”

They also posted it on their women’s social media handle captioning: “Introducing your  2020/21 POTS…”

McCabe’s fine form this year led to her signing a new long-term deal with the Gunners, while she was also included in the team of the year named by the Women’s Super League last week.

McCabe joined Arsenal Women in 2015 while rejecting competing offers from Glasgow City, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Arsenal finished third in the Women’s Super League under former Australian manager Joe Montemurro, qualifying for the Women’s Champions League in his final season before taking charge of Juventus Women.

Sweden’s Jonas Eidevall was appointed last month as Arsenal manager to succeed Montemurro.
