Karim Benzema reveals his retirement plans post winning Ballon d’Or

Benzema has finally won the greatest individual title in footballing career, Ballon d’Or last night.

Karim Benzema has stated his desire to end his career at which club and the club he named is his current one, which is not a surprise as the Frenchman has achieved new heights with the Whites.

The prolific Frenchman finally achieved the title of a greatest footballer in history on Monday night by taking home the 2022 Ballon d’Or. The 34-year-old France international scored 44 goals for the 2021–22 champions of La Liga and the Champions League, making him the oldest Golden Ball winner since Sir Stanley Matthews in 1956. He has expressed a desire to finish his career at Santiago Bernabeu despite speculation that he might return to his roots at Lyon before the time comes to hang up his boots. He is not showing any signs of slowing down.

French forward Karim Benzema, who is expected to make the winter World Cup roster for Les Bleus, declared, “I will retire in Real Madrid,” as reported by Fabrizio Romano shortly after the ceremony on Monday. The Frenchman further stated that there is no other option for him other than retiring at Los Blancos.

Benzema, who has one year left on his contract, has played in 615 games across all competitions since moving to Real Madrid in 2009 from Ligue 1 club Lyon. He has also scored 328 goals since then. Los Blancos have won 23 significant trophies thanks to the talents of the seasoned striker, including five Champions Leagues and four La Liga championships.
