Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo broke covid-19 rules: Reports

Cristiano Ronaldo broke covid-19 travel restrictions by travelling to a mountain resort, as per several media reports on Thursday.

The famous striker allegedly travelled to Courmayeur which was located 150 kilometres north-west of the Juventus’s Turin headquarters, for his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez’s birthday.

Juve declined to comment when contacted by AFP.

Rodriguez who turned 27 on Wednesday posted a video of the couple on a snowmobile on Instagram. However, she removed it later, but it was picked up by the Italian media.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Ronaldo and Rodriguez spent Tuesday in the hotel and took a ride in the snow the next morning, before returning to the headquarters.

However, under the current covid-19 rules in Italy, the couple risked a fine of 400 euros each as they should not have left the Turin.

It isn’t the first time the 35-year-old footballer is involved in covid-19 related controversy. In October last year, he was criticized for travelling to Portugal while the entire Juventus team were in isolation after two virus cases. After which Ronaldo was tested positive and returned to Italy to spend weeks in isolation at home.
