Japan, Saudi Arabia progress for Qatar World Cup 2022

Japan beat Australia 2-0 thanks to Kaoru Mitoma’s two goals in the final minutes.

Following Japan’s 2-0 win over Australia in Sydney on Thursday, Saudi Arabia qualified for the 2022 World Cup without even playing a game.

Kaoru Mitoma’s two late goals not only earned Japan a well-deserved win after a thrilling match, but they also put them in first place in Group B with 21 points, two above the Green Falcons, who face China later today.

Japan qualified for the World Cup for the seventh time in a row after defeating Australia 2-0 in Sydney on Thursday, destroying the Socceroos’ aspirations of automatic entry. Australia will now face the third-placed side from another Asian qualifying group in a play-off for the opportunity to face the fifth-ranked South American team for a spot in Qatar.

Teams that have qualified for the Qatar World Cup 2020 are :

Qatar, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Serbia, Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland, England, Argentina, Iran, South Korea, Japan,  Saudi Arabia.
