Vestergaard played a lead role in Southampton’s defence last season. Leicester wanted a defender badly in this transfer window as both of their first-team defenders, Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans has been ruled out because of their injuries. Wesley Fofana was injured in Leicester City’s pre-season game against Europa League winners Villarreal. Because of this horrendous injury, it is being said that Wesley could be ruled out for the whole season. Meanwhile, Leicester City’s other centre-back Jonny Evans is also been said to be out for a couple of months because of his foot injury.
To bolster Leicester’s defence, the offer of £15million was been made to Southampton for Jannik Vestergaard which was accepted by the team and the deal is set to be done.
Jannik Vestergaard deal is expected to be completed in the next few hours. Leicester City boss, Brendon Rodgers wants the Danish centre-back to play a part in their first Premier League game of the season, which is against Wolves on Saturday. Southampton lost their two important first team players in this transfer window, with Danny Ings joining Aston Villa and Vestergaard joins Leicester City.
