James Rodriguez officially joins Al Rayyan from Everton for an undisclosed fee

The ex-Real Madrid midfielder has officially joined Al Rayyan from Everton as he looks to begin a new chapter.

On Wednesday, Everton FC has confirmed the news that James Rodriguez has officially joined Qatari side Al Rayyan from Everton for what is decided as an undisclosed fee. The Columbian free-kick specialist has called it quit from Carlo Ancelloti’s side just after lasting over 12 months at the Goodison Park but was quickly linked with a move away from the club following Ancelloti’s departure itself immediately.

The midfielder fell out of contention for a place in the Toffees playing squad this season after Rafael Benitez took over as the manager for the team. The Columbian star is one of the most shining midfielders the football world has ever seen.

Everton FC have officially confirmed the news of the departure of James Rodriguez to Qatari side Al Rayyan in their latest social media post “James Rodriguez has left Everton to sign for Qatari club Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee”

He has not made a single appearance for Benitez’s team this season and had been looking to organise a transfer ahead of the current campaign. On the other hand, the former Monaco and Porto star struggled with calf problems throughout the season and was limited to 26 appearances in all competitions in the year 2020-21. The Columbia international has found a new home in the Middle East where he will join Laurent Blanc’s side two games into the Qatari Stars League.

Qatari side Al Rayyan teased the signing of the 30-year-old Columbian on Wednesday by sharing a video about an imminent new arrival on social media. Later, the club then confirmed the deal with a video welcoming the Columbian star to the new club by quoting “Welcome”.
