The 2nd league game between NEUFC and Mumbai City FC started off with an injury in the 26th minute to Mumbai City FC winger Raynier Fernandes who got replaced by Farukh Choudhary. Mumbai City had 70% possession in the first 20 minutes but they were not able to create any chances or even take a shot.
It got even worse for Mumbai City as midfielder Ahmed Jahouh was sent off after an uncoordinated challenge on Khassa Camara.
NorthEast United won a penalty just two minutes into the second half and striker Kwesi Appiah had no problem converting it from 12 yards out.
Mumbai City FC did not have any answers as they did not register a shot on target the full 90 minutes. NEUFC eventually held on to the lead and grabbed the 3 points.
