Isco’s career at Real Madrid ends today: Carlo Ancelotti

The Spanish international played his last game in a Real Madrid shirt as the club said goodbye to its 2021-22 La Liga season.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Isco Alarcon played his last game at Santiago Bernabeu in a white shirt as the club said goodbye to their 2021-22 La Liga season until next year against Real Betis. Both, the La Liga winners as well as Copa del Rey champions Los Blancos and Betis respectively have a guard of honour for each other ahead of their face-off that ended in a goalless draw.

It was anticipated that the Spanish international Isco Alarcon concluded his last game at the Real Madrid home ground to white, Ancelotti confirmed in a post-match interview. As Isco leaves the 13 times European champions on a free move, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed, “Isco’s career with Real Madrid ends today. And it’s been a great career,” reported Fabrizio Romano. Ancelotti further said that Isco could have done more at the club, but he was always a key player and wished him luck for his future.

Despite Isco not getting enough chances this season in Real Madrid’s playing time, he was seen in Lisbon, Milan, Cardiff, and Kyiv at a time when he was performing at a level that he is no longer at. This is a far cry from the 53 appearances he made with Carlo Ancelotti on the bench in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. His numbers are now much more discrete. The Spaniard hasn’t played 400 minutes this season, hasn’t played in the Champions League, and his last start was against Granada in February.

Despite this, when he says his goodbyes to Real Madrid fans, the good times will undoubtedly outnumber the bad and it is anticipated that his future appears to be in Sevilla, where both local clubs are fighting for his signature.
