The Serie A has started after World Cup and the new year has not been good so far for the Napoli fans as they lost their first game of the 2023 by 2020/21 Champions Inter Milan. Inter Milan end the unbeaten run of Napoli in Serie A. Napoli are the table-toppers in the Italian league and was in an amazing run of form before the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Napoli were 8 points clear at the top (Serie A 2022/23). They were on 41 points and the second-place AC Milan were on 33. But the defending champions (AC Milan) got the victory in their first game of 2023 against Salernitana to close the points gap.
Despite Inter Milan won this game, Napoli performed well in this game. The top-place team had more possession and more shots in the game but couldn’t score one. Inter Milan’s striker Edin Dzeko’s only goal helped the fourth-placed to take the three points in the game.
Edin Dzeko header was spectacular and it was assisted by Dimarco from the left-wing position. Inter are now closing the gap from top as they have 33 points now, one behind Juventus and 3 behind AC Milan.
