The Indian women’s national football team is set to play international friendlies ahead of their participation in the AFC Asian Cup that begins front the 20th of January till the 6th of February 2022. It was only the other day when the head coach of the national team Thomas Dennerby had wished for the women’s team to play a dozen international games ahead of the Asian Cup. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has heard the plea of the former Swedish national team coach and have announced that the women’s national will be playing international games next month in October.

The 57th ranked Indian side is expected to play their international fixtures in Dubai against the likes of the 100th ranked team of UAE and Tunisia who are placed 77th in the FIFA rankings. The team will then travel to Manama to face 85th place Bahrain and the 30th ranked Chinese Taipei. All the games are said to be held in quick succession which will be completed by the first half of October.
“Besides the four matches against UAE, Tunisia, Chinese Taipei and Bahrain, we also have two confirmed matches against two Swedish premier league teams. We are in the process of sorting out the travel protocol to the country as the entry of Indian citizens to Sweden is still not open yet,” said coach Dennerby to the-aiff.com.
