Indian and Chennaiyin FC footballer Anirudh Thapa has had his say on Indians being lucky enough to watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup live in Qatar. He adds that due to the relations between the two countries and also the fact that a lot of Indians stay in Qatar, going to the World Cup to watch it live would be more accessible than ever before.
This is only the 2nd time a FIFA World Cup would be held in an Asian country, the first one being in South Korea in 2002.
“We have good relations with Qatar and there are a lot of Indians in Qatar. It should be very easy for us to travel to Qatar and watch the World Cup. I think it is possible that a lot of Indians will go and watch the games in 2022. If I am able to, if I don’t have any commitments, I will definitely go and watch the World Cup in Qatar. It is a lifelong dream to watch a World Cup and see the big teams play.”
Thapa also mentions that a few of the legends of the game would possibly be playing their last ever World Cup, which makes it even more of a dream of his to go and watch it live.
“Also, some of the legends are playing their final World Cup in 2022. So, I definitely want to go to Qatar and watch the World Cup if I’m able to,” he adds.
