India to face Maldives after their success in a must win match against Nepal in SAFF

India will face its toughest competition on Wednesday against the Maldives after their win against Nepal in a must-win match where Chhetri was the only scorer.

Even though Indian has been unbeaten in the SAFF competition still this has been a very disappointing performance and is at 3rd place behind Nepal and Maldives. Chhetri’s goal at the 83rd minute against Nepal was very crucial as it saves us from elimination, but still, the goal has and will always be the championship.

If India, draws or loses against first placed the Maldives they will be on extinct to elimination, this will be one of the worst results in Indian history as we have either won or came second place in the last 11 appearances and total have won 7 championships. Maldives have never been an easy opponent their ranking in FIFA is 51st to our 158th. Their 36-year-old captain Ashfaq has carried them to first place scoring 2 goals, after tasting defeat in the opening round against Nepal but then picked themselves up by winning the next 2 matches, 2-0 from Bangladesh and 1-0 from Sri Lanka

India’s run of 2 draws and just 1 win has been very disappointing as coach Stimac pointed out the lack of creating chances and scoring has led them down in this tournament. Tomorrow at 9:30 PM IST both teams will go head to head and the winner will be awarded first place.
