The Indian football team began their SAFF Championship 2021 campaign with a disappointing draw against Bangladesh last Sunday. The Blue Tigers put up an ordinary performance and were therefore held on to a 1-1 draw against a 10-men Bangladesh. “We need to look forward. There are three matches left in the group stage. We were punished in the last match, and we need to improve,” Head coach Igor Stimac stated after the draw vs Bangladesh, reported IANS.
India looked to bounce back as they always had an advantage against Sri Lanka winning 15 of the 20 games and only losing 1 one of the other 5 games and other 4 ended up in a draw, yet in match 21st match India dominated the game from beginning to end but could not find the back of the net. India took 11 shots but only 1 on target and had possession of 73% with 450 passes completed with 81% accuracy.
Let's take a look at the head-to-head record between 🇮🇳 & 🇱🇰, as we head closer to the game today 🙌

There was hardly any action from both the teams in the first half as Chhetri tries to motivate his team to attack. At 54th minute Sunil Chhetri’s header was punched away by Sujan as India missed a chance to get ahead. Despite multiple attacks, the Indian Tigers could not break the deadlock and ended the game with a frustrating goalless draw, it’s second in the tournament so far. India is now at 3rd position with 2 draws and 2 points and will face a much talented Nepal team who have won both of their games and currently sits at the top of the table on October 8, 9:30 PM IST.
