“I thought tactically, Arsenal were a shambles” Jamie Carragher on Arsenal’s performance against rivals Tottenham

Arsenal suffered a 2-0 loss to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Two quick counter attacking goals from the most inform duo in the Premier League – Harry Kane and Heung Min Son secured the victory for Jose Mourinho’s side. Spurs soaked up all the pressure in the second half and did not even manage a shot on target but completely nullified Arsenal’s attack and got the job done.

A win meant Spurs are currently 1st in the Premier League whereas Arsenal lie in a very grim situation, sitting 15th in the league.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher had his say on Arsenal’s performance, citing it “naive” and “awful”.

Carragher said, “Arsenal did not play well. Arsenal were awful, defensively and with the ball, from minute one. This idea that because you have possession, you’ve played well – I’m flabbergasted when I hear it.”

“They never had one chance in the game where someone should have scored. I’ve just seen a Mourinho quote saying possession is for the poets or the philosophers. He’s absolutely spot-on if there’s nothing with the possession.”

“I thought tactically, Arsenal were a shambles, so poor,” added Carragher.

Tottenham travel away to Crystal Palace on Sunday whereas Arsenal host 18th placed Burnley at the Emirates on Monday.
