I need more time to recover from COVID-19: Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi needs more time to heal from COVID-19 as it is taking longer than he expected.

On Thursday, Lionel Messi said that it requires extra time for him to get recovered from COVID-19 before he can come back on the football ground. The 34-year-old footballer tested positive for COVID-19 while he was at his hometown in Rosario for a holiday before he flew back to Paris on January 5.

He has been self-isolated and also missed two PSG matches. Messi posted on Instagram saying, As you know I had covid and I wanted to thank you all for the messages I received. He further added that it is taking more time than he would expect but he is recovering and will soon be back on the ground. Messi is training to be back on his best as huge challenges are coming this year and hope to see the crowd again.

He has been training at the Paris Saint Germain alone ever since he tested negative last week. According to ESPN Argentina, Lionel Messi will also be missing the home Ligue 1 game against Brest this weekend. Angel Di Maria, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Julian Draxler are among such Messi’s Club teammates who have also tested positive for COVID-19 since Christmas break.  The Parisians to host Real Madrid in the first leg of their champions league last 16 ties on February 15.
