I don’t know if Éderson will stay: Pep Guardiola

Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has expressed uncertainty over the future of goalkeeper Ederson. The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al Ittihad reportedly interested. While Ederson has shown interest in the move, no agreement has been reached between the clubs, with City insisting on a transfer fee of €50-60 million.

Guardiola, speaking after a friendly match against Celtic, emphasized his desire for Ederson to stay but acknowledged that the decision might depend on other clubs’ actions. “I’d like him to stay but it depends on other clubs,” said Guardiola. He also noted that there had been no recent contacts regarding Ederson’s situation.

Ederson’s position as the first-choice goalkeeper has been a topic of discussion, especially after Guardiola chose backup Stefan Ortega for a crucial Champions League match last season. However, Guardiola still considers Ederson his top goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips seems likely to leave City on loan before the transfer window closes, following a challenging spell at West Ham and struggles with injuries. Guardiola stated that the decision on Phillips’s future is still pending, as the player understands his current situation.
