Hyderabad FC signs Spanish defender Juan Antonio Gonzalez on a one year deal

Hyderabad FC has signed Spain’s defender Juan Antonio Gonzalez on a one-year contract from Bengaluru FC.

Hyderabad FC has finished the signing of a defender from Spain from Bengaluru FC namely Juan Antonio Gonzalez on a one-year contract. The club announced the deal on Monday through their official site.

The 34-year-old Spaniard has enlisted in the squad of the Indian Super League side Hyderabad FC after spending his five years with the rivals Bengaluru FC.

“I saw how the team put on a strong show last season in the ISL. I spoke to Manolo and other players about the team and I think we have a strong side this season to get to the playoffs,” said the defender after he finished off the club’s formal agreements.

Juan is popularly known as ‘Juanan’, started his senior career in Spain at Deportivo La Coruna and expended his period with Real Madrid’s B team ‘Real Madrid Castilla’ and then moved to Germany in the year 2011.

In the 2012-2013 season, he appeared in the Bundesliga with Fortuna Dusseldorf and was influenced in Hungary, the USA and Spain. He shifted to India in 2016 where a year later in 2017 he earned Federation Cup in followed by his victory at the Super Cup in 2018 and the Indian Super League in 2018-19 including his finishing second in the 2016 AFC Cup. Juanan, twice in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 had completed the top of the ISL League stage.
