Hugo Boumous transferred to ATK Mohun Bagan from Mumbai City FC

Hugo Boumous has signed a contract with ATK Mohun Bagan. It is one of the biggest transfers in the Indian football.

ATK Mohun Bagan confirmed on Thursday through their Twitter handle that the star midfielder Hugo Boumous has completed his transfer to ATK Mohun Bagan FC from reigning Indian Super League (ISL) champions, Mumbai City FC. He has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.

The club reached an agreement with the Mumbai-based ISL club to sign the French-Moroccan star for an undisclosed transfer fee after weeks of negotiations. According to the Times of India, Hugo has been transferred to ATK Mohun Bagan for a record fee of more than Rs 1.76 crores.

Hugo was the hero of the 2019-20 ISL season and is one of the best players in the league. His skills in dribbling, footwork, passing range and technical abilities made him a prized possession for any ISL side. He had joined ISL in the 2017-18 season when FC Goa signed him from Moroccan Botola club Moghreb Tetouan. In his first season, eight matches, he scored two goals along with two assists.

In the next season, he scored three goals and assisted five times in 19 appearances. But in the third season, he nailed his performance by scoring 11 goals and giving 10 assists in 15 matches. ATK Mohun Bagan is the strongest team in the ISL right now, though they lost to Mumbai City FC in last seasons finals, it is the best team ever to field in the ISL by any club.
