Kane produced one of the best performances this season as he scored twice in a dramatic 3-2 win against league leaders Manchester City. This was Conte’s plan all along and it is finally taking shape.

Last summer, the English striker pushed for a move to Manchester City but Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, declined the move as he wanted the striker to remain at Spurs. At the same time, when he had two years left on his contract, Kane also declined a high paying contract extension.

They need him now more than ever. The mid-table competition is extremely high as it involves teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, West Ham United, Brighton, and Wolves and all the teams are separated by a fine margin of two to three points.

In the end, it would come down to goals difference, and Kane would play a huge role as he is their top-scorer. He scored a total of 15 goals and assisted thrice in thirty-three games this season. He is also in their all-time top 10 scorers along with the likes of Jimmy Greaves and Bobby Smith. He scored a total of 173 goals and is third on the list with Jimmy Greaves topping the list with 220 goals. It is safe to say that Kane would reach the milestone of becoming Spurs’ all-time top scorer if he signs another contract, with Conte planning to use him as the centrepiece.

Although Spurs and Conte would love to offer a new contract to Kane, they are not going to open talks with him anytime soon. They want everyone’s focus to be on finishing strong in the league and they also admitted that he decides to make it.
