The keeper who played for heated rivals ATK Mohun Bagan has tweeted out that as he gets ready to don the red and gold colours of East Bengal for the first time, he remembers the passion and love that his father and grandparents had towards this club and the immense pride and joy they would feel to see him play for the colours of the prestigious SC East Bengal.

He added that he is now proud to be part of a club with a rich history and legacy and he does apologize for the delay of the move but has confirmed that this was finally a reality. He looks forward to maintaining the name and honour of this club. He continued by saying that he wants to build a strong team together and playing to his full potential and hopes that all the fans are excited as he is to see him perform.

He kept 10 clean sheets for ATK Mohun Bagan last season in the Indian Super League, which was joint highest along with Amarinder Singh of Mumbai City. He also conceded the least goals in the league last season (15).

It will be very interesting to see what the reaction of the fans will be in regards to this signing but East Bengal may just have a better season with Bhattacharya between the sticks than anybody else.
