Premier League game between Newcastle & Tottenham gets temporarily suspended after a medical emergency in stands

It was later reported that the fan was stable, conscious and on his way to the hospital.

The game between Newcastle and Tottenham was suspended briefly before halftime as there was a medical emergency in the crowd at St. James’ Park. It was Sergio Reguilon who noticed something in the crowd and told about the same to the referee.

The match was the first game for Newcastle after the takeover was completed last week. They were hosting Tottenham for a premier league game, and it was in the 41st minute of the game that the referee realized the gravity of the situation in the stand as a fan was found in dire need of medical attention. The teams recognized it too, and the medical officials from both the benches rushed to the aid of the fan. A defibrillator too rushed across the pitch, while the stadium announcer too confirmed that there was a medical emergency in the East Stand.

The game till that point was a mixed bag for both the teams, as it was the hosts who scored the first goal of the game with the help of a header by Wilson in the second minute of the game. The goal was soon after cancelled out by Ndombele in the 17th minute. While Harry Kane put his team front in the game by scoring a goal in the 22nd minute.

The game was resumed from the 45th minute onwards, and an added time of 7 minutes was allotted. In those allotted minutes the crowd and fans got to witness a Kane-Son team-up goal, which put Tottenham 2 goals up at halftime. It was later reported that the fan was stable, conscious and on his way to the hospital.
